NetApp Helping PandoKids THRIVE in uncertain times.
December 7, 2020
Last week, Pando received a generous donation from our partners at NetApp. This funding comes at a time when The Pando Initiative has been faced with an unprecedented hardship related to the Coronavirus (COVID- 19) pandemic. In these uncertain times, we were compelled to make some difficult but necessary decisions in moving our largest fundraiser, 100 Men Who Cook to a virtual format, as well as cancelling numerous scheduled Reality U events for the school year. Both decisions, while required and needed has certainly had an adverse impact on our organization’s financial expectations and goals.
While most of the schools we serve are learning virtually, the way we connect with students may have changed but our mission has not. Staff are conducting more porch visits that include dropping food off, mentoring, and providing the much-needed emotional support that our students need.
NetApp has supported Pando for years between mentoring lunch groups, to their continual support at our Reality U events, and once again they show up for PandoKids when it matters the most.
Our sustainability will not be possible without the continued generosity of partners like NetApp. Without this support we will not be able to serve the 1,700 students on our case load or the other 20,000 students we impact each year.
We look forward to the time when we can have volunteers in schools and can hold more local Reality U events. Until then, THANK YOU for your continued commitment to Pando and the kids we serve. Your generosity means the world to us!
