You do not have to fill out the FAFSA alone, and you should never pay someone to do it.
KASFAA, the Kansas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (kasfaa.org/student_parent_counselor_resou.php), runs free sessions led by financial aid professionals from colleges across Kansas.
What they offer. Virtual presentations walking students and families through the current FAFSA, offered in both English and Spanish. Separately, they host events providing one-on-one support for people who need help actually filing.
When. Sessions typically run in the fall and winter, ahead of state aid deadlines. Slides and recordings are posted on their site after each session, so you can watch even if you miss the live date.
Kansas Board of Regents FAFSA resources (kansasregents.gov/students/fafsa-resources) collects additional tools, including free FAFSA completion virtual assistance from Kansas financial aid professionals and the federal FAFSA toolkit.
Why this matters in Kansas. Fewer than half of Kansas high school graduates complete a FAFSA, and the state has set a goal of 70 percent completion at every high school. Students who skip it are usually the ones who assumed they would not qualify.
Also free. The financial aid office at any Kansas college will help you, whether or not you have applied there yet. So will your high school counselor.
