Wichita Public Library (wichitalibrary.org), for example, issues free library cards to area residents.
A card gets you books and ebooks, research databases you would otherwise pay for, and free public computers and internet, which matters if your laptop dies mid-semester or you do not have reliable internet at home.
Interlibrary loan can often source a title your campus library does not own. Turnaround is typically one to three weeks, so request early rather than the night before a paper is due.
The library also runs job search resources and free programming worth knowing about beyond coursework.
