Get Tuition, Fees, and Books Covered at a Kansas Technical or Community College

September 3, 2026

The Kansas Promise Scholarship (click here) is administered by the Kansas Board of Regents and covers eligible certificate and associate degree programs at Kansas community and technical colleges.

What it covers. Tuition, fees, books, and required materials for your degree program. The amount is calculated after all other financial aid, grants, and scholarships that do not require repayment have been applied, so it functions as last-dollar coverage.

How much. Up to $20,000 or 68 credit hours paid for, whichever comes first. Your institution determines your award based on program cost, your FAFSA, and other aid you receive.

Renewal. If your program runs beyond one year, the scholarship renews automatically each year until you graduate, fail to enroll, or hit the funding limit.

The commitment. Recipients agree to live and work in Kansas after completing the program. The Board of Regents sends paperwork annually or semi-annually to confirm compliance, sent to the email address they have on file, so keep that current.

Eligibility note. Four-year colleges are not eligible unless they offer an associate degree. Semester deadlines are posted on the Kansas Board of Regents site.
