Kansas State Scholarship for Top-Performing Seniors

September 3, 2026

The Kansas State Scholarship assists financially needy students among the strongest Kansas high school graduates.

How you become eligible. During your senior year you need to have received a certificate stating you completed the Kansas Scholars Curriculum, and a letter designating you as a Kansas State Scholar. That designation is based on an index combining your ACT composite score and seventh-semester GPA. Of the roughly 5,000 Kansas seniors who complete the Scholars Curriculum each year, about the top half are designated.

When you find out. Designations are typically issued between February and April of senior year.

What is required to keep it. Enrollment in at least 12 credit hours per semester, a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and demonstrated financial need. The number of designations depends on state funding levels, and awards account for other outside scholarships you receive.

How to apply. File the FAFSA at studentaid.gov, then complete the State of Kansas Student Aid Application at sfa.kansasregents.gov by June 1.

Two things students miss. You must reapply every school year. And the Board of Regents does not notify recipients directly; your college does, so watch your school email.
