Practice for an Interview Before You Have One

September 4, 2026

CareerOneStop Interview Tips (careeronestop.org/JobSearch/Interview). Free guidance on common questions, how to prepare, what to bring, and how to follow up.

KANSASWORKS interview practice tool (kansasworks.com). The state job board includes an online interview resource for job seekers covering basic and best practices, with the ability to practice behavioral questions across industries and receive feedback.

Free in-person practice. The Workforce Centers of South Central Kansas run mock interviews and workshops at 2021 N. Amidon, Suite 1100, Wichita, (316) 771-6600. If you are enrolled anywhere, your college’s career services office does the same, already covered by your fees.

The three questions to prepare no matter what. Tell me about yourself. Why do you want this job. Tell me about a time you handled something difficult. Nearly every interview contains some version of all three.

A note on paid tools. Some interview platforms, including Big Interview, are usually licensed by schools rather than sold to individuals. Before paying for anything, check whether your college or public library already provides access.
