What Kansas Public Universities Require for Admission

September 4, 2026

Kansas Qualified Admissions is the state’s framework for admission to public universities, set by the Kansas Board of Regents. It defines the high school coursework and performance standards you need to meet.

Why check early. These are course requirements, which means they have to be planned for in ninth and tenth grade, not discovered in twelfth. If you are missing a required course as a senior, options narrow.

Related and worth knowing. The Kansas Scholars Curriculum is a separate, more rigorous course sequence. Completing it is what makes you eligible for Kansas State Scholar designation and the Kansas State Scholarship.

Community colleges work differently. Kansas public community colleges are open admission, meaning Qualified Admissions standards do not gate entry. If you did not complete the required sequence, starting at a community college and transferring is a real path.

Where to check. Kansas Board of Regents at kansasregents.gov, and your high school counselor, who tracks this for every student.
