Job Summary:
The Pando Student Support Advocate (SSA) plays a key role in supporting student success by providing case management, coordinating services for students and families, by implementing small groups, programs and activities tailored to the unique needs of the school community.
In this role, you’ll collaborate with families, school staff, community partners, and volunteers to deliver essential services that help students thrive academically and personally. As a positive role model, you’ll build strong relationships with students, maintain open communication with parents and school staff, and connect families with outside agencies for additional support when needed.
Essential/Primary Job Functions
Coordinate Services for Students and Families
- Initiate and manage the student nomination and referral process at the school site.
- Conduct intake assessments for new referrals and secure parental/guardian consents.
- Maintain regular contact with parents/guardians through home visits, emails, conference and/or phone calls.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized service plans to support student and family progress.
- Identify student and family needs and provide appropriate referrals to community resources.
- Facilitate and document student and parent participation in relevant programs and activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, including signed parental consent forms.
- Enter and report student data accurately in The Pando Initiative Data Management System (PASS).
- Provide comprehensive case management for Pando students.
- Participate in school enrollment events and parent-teacher conferences as required.
Coordinate Pando Initiative Programs and Activities
- Lead, organize, and evaluate programs and activities, adjusting as needed to meet evolving student needs.
- Build and manage a caseload of PandoKids (K-8) or NextGen (9-12) based on referrals.
- Ensure all programs and activities align with the needs of students, families, and the school community.
- Foster positive relationships between the school site, Pando leadership, and community partners.
- Assist in the implementation of Reality U programs for middle and high schools.
- Facilitate small group sessions focused on social-emotional skills, character development, behavior management, attendance, academic incentives, enrichment activities, and mentoring.
- Support and participate in Pando Initiative special events and fundraising efforts as directed.
- Adhere to Pando’s guidelines for managing donations (in-kind, monetary, and material), ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission to secure community resources for students and families.
Secondary Functions
- Cultivate and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with students, staff, and community members.
- Demonstrate professionalism through effective communication, appearance, and attitude.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance at the assigned school.
- Organize and prioritize daily tasks to ensure all responsibilities are completed effectively.
- Prepare and submit quarterly site reports and student highlights.
- Attend and actively participate in all required training and professional development sessions.
- Successfully pass all required background checks.
Education, Knowledge, and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Preferred experience working with youth or case management.
- Strong ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and the community.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in diverse environments and adapt to varying situations.
- Knowledge of family systems and familiarity with local community resources.
- Ability to manage crisis situations with professionalism and composure.
- Demonstrates tact, leadership, confidentiality, and a strong work ethic.
- Proficiency in Office 365, G-Suite, and database software.
