Description: Part-time, 15-20 hours weekly at Franklin Elementary school, Wichita, non-exempt, NOT benefits eligible.

Hours: This position runs through May when school is over.  We are flexible with hours to make a schedule that works for Pando and the PT Mentor but must have availability during school hours, morning through lunch time (between the hours of 10am/11am-2pm/3pm). Schedules are somewhat flexible regarding days worked within that time frame.

JOB SUMMARY:  The Pando Initiative’s Check & Connect program is a comprehensive intervention designed to enhance student engagement at school, improve attendance and foster school completion. The mentor is responsible for providing personalized interventions under the supervision of the Mentor Team Lead for a caseload of K – 5th grade students and their families to meet student needs.

Essential/Primary skills needed and Job Functions:

Willingness and ability to work with Kindergarten through 5th graders and their families to build relationships and develop goals to improve attendance and increase student/family engagement at the school.

Willingness to work with parents/guardians of caseload students, making phone calls.

Ability to motivate students to participate at school by personalizing interventions and targeting strategies to meet student need.

Ability to assist students and families to set personal and educational goals-both immediate and future-oriented.

Ability to help students and families solve and successfully meet the everyday demands of the school environment.

Ability to work with the team at the school to provide needed supports to the student and family.

Other duties as assigned by Pando school lead including some administrative functions.

Education, Knowledge and Skills:

Requires confidentiality, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude and willingness to empower students.

Reliable, on-time and regular attendance required. Since the students do get attached to staff we ask for at least a one year school commitment until May.

Willingness to abide by any district COVID restrictions, if put in place any time during the school year. Masks are currently required in the school building.

Reliable form of transportation and insurance required. No transporting of students will be permitted.

 

Must pass all required background checks including Motor Vehicle Report.

Hourly wage: $12.00 hour for time worked.

FULL-TIME STUDENT SUPPORT ADVOCATE-West High School

The Student Support Advocate (SSA) provides case management, coordinates services to students and families, and implements programs and activities based upon the specific needs of the school.  The SSA works with community partners and volunteers to bring needed services into the school to help students succeed.  The SSA is responsible for being a positive role model for students, building positive relationships and maintaining open communication with parents, the community and school staff. Coordinates referrals of students and their families to outside agencies for services not provided on site. The SSA is responsible for meeting deadlines, entering data in the Pando Initiative data management system and submitting monthly reports as required.
