The Pando Initiative Check & Connect program is a comprehensive intervention designed to enhance student engagement at school, improve attendance and foster school completion. The Mentor Team Lead is responsible for providing personalized interventions for a caseload of 55-60 K – 5th grade students and their families to meet student needs in addition to leading the mentor team at the school site.
Bachelor’s Degree in social work, education, human services or related field.
Prefer previous experience in program implementation and administration, work with youth and case management.
Ability to work with families, sometimes in their home if required.
Reliable transportation and auto insurance.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers and the public.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to function in a diverse job situation.
Knowledge of the community and available resources.
Ability to handle crisis situations.
Requires tact, insight, leadership, confidentiality, and an excellent work ethic.
Personal computer proficiency with the ability to use Office 365 and database software.
Ability to navigate online data management systems with training

Previous experience working with families in their homes.
Ability to build relationships as part of an effective mentoring approach.
Ability to motivate students to participate at school by personalizing interventions and targeting strategies to meet student need.
Knowledge of existing resources and the ability to make referrals to the appropriate school and community based professionals or services.
Ability to assist students and families to set personal educational goals-both immediate and future-oriented.
Ability to help students and families solve and successfully meet the everyday demands of the school environment.
Ability to apply the concept of Persistence-Plus to support students and families by providing a sense of optimism and hopefulness for the student’s school performance.
Strong ability to recruit and retain mentors that work with students and families.
Strong ability to supervise, lead and coach Check & Connect mentors in working with students and families to improve outcomes.
Ability to promote positive relationships with others.
Maintain regular and acceptable attendance.
Promote professionalism, through effective social etiquette, appearance and attitude.
Develop, establish, and maintain a work priority system to ensure daily workloads are fulfilled.
Must prepare and submit reports based on the templates provided.
Attend and participate in any training or in-service as designated by supervisor.
Must pass all required background checks.
